The nine-year-old horse is also likely to be declared on Thursday for Sunday's King George VI Chase at Kempton. Murphy was banned after he struck out at his mount Semi Precious following the pair's fall at Plumpton. The Irishman seemed to throw his whip at the horse in frustration as it got to its feet and galloped away. He hopes the Jockey Club will uphold his appeal so he can ride in the King George VI Chase on Boxing Day. Murphy is due to go before the club's disciplinary panel at 1030 GMT. After being beaten by Solerina by two and a half lengths, Hughes said that his horse would have his usual blinkers on next time - these make him sharper. The three-year-old pipped Bullish Luck by a head after a thrilling battle in the final furlong of the track, while Touch of Land took third place. Pre-race favourite Rakti made a promising start but ended up well down the field after tiring in the latter stages. Alexander Goldrun, with Kevin Manning in the saddle, worked her way into the lead with just under a furlong to go and showed real grit to hold off the challenge of Bullish Luck. Manning said his mount - rated a 10-1 shot before the race - had done everything asked of her. Described by his trainer as "still the best in our yard" he has to be on the shortlist, especially considering he is almost certainly open to further improvement. However, his odds are a little cramped for what he has actually achieved so far, so there could be some value in taking him on this time. Shamawan enters the reckoning after his close second to Lady Cricket off this same handicap mark over course and distance in January last year. Both runs since have been over hurdles, including last time out at Uttoxeter, when he finished fourth on his seasonal debut. The form of that race is working out well – the second and third has won since – and he will be a lot sharper for that run. He could run well at a big price, and may be good enough to emulate stable companion Legal Right, who won the race back in 1999. Recommendation: Shamawan @ 16/1 (each way). bet365 Bonusprint selected prices … Our Vic 10/3, Thisthatandtother 4/1, Monkerhostin 6/1, Redemption, Non So 10/1, Shamawan 16/1, others on bet365 website. Rooster Booster heads our market for this Saturday’s Bula Hurdle at Cheltenham, after showing he retains much of his ability when running fourth under a big weight last month on his reappearance. He is bound to come on for that run, and looks sure to run a big race on what is his favourite track. However, with the strong end-to-end gallop that he needs not guaranteed, the 2003 Champion Hurdle winner could be vulnerable to Noel Chance’s Flame Creek. The eight-year-old has been off the course since January, but has won on each of his three previous seasonal appearances, and escapes a penalty for an easy win in a Grade 2 hurdle early last year. Best fresh and getting the weight from the favourite, he looks worth an each way bet. Recommendation: Flame Creek @ 14/1 (each way). bet365 Bula prices … Rooster Booster 9/4, Inglis Drever, Back In Front 7/2, Flame Creek 14/1, others on bet365 website. In a two-part panel discussion on betting exchanges Wednesday at the Symposium on Racing in Tucson, Ariz., Scherf said he would ask the TRA board Thursday to make the issue of betting exchanges a priority. 'There should be a dialogue and a priority in this industry to decide where we are going on this issue,' Scherf said. Internet betting exchanges, which allow handicappers to bet on or against a horse to win or lose, are considered illegal in the U.S. and most countries besides the UK and Ireland. BetFair is the most popular of such Internet exchanges, which have been accused of accepting wagers from people in countries where exchanges are illegal and in some cases taking data and simulcasting signals without authorization." posted by Darren Power on 7:53 AM Thursday, December 09, 2004BBC SPORT | Other Sport | Horse Racing | Wednesday's racing bulletin BBC SPORT | Other Sport | Horse Racing | Wednesday's racing bulletin: "The Five Live tip is Desailly in the 1435 at Newbury (all times GMT). This weekend’s Tingle Creek chase from Sandown looks a re-match between last year’s winner and runner-up, Moscow Flyer and Azertyuiop respectively, with the latter fancied to gain revenge. Moscow Flyer won with authority last year, but the Paul Nicholls chaser was in need of the run that day, and has since shown vastly improved form, culminating with victory in the Champion Chase in March. This year, he is better prepared after winning the Haldon Gold Cup on his reappearance, and at the age of seven has time on his side. Moscow Flyer, rising 11, is not getting any younger, so Martin Pipe’s Arkle winner Well Chief could be the one for the forecast. Recommendation: 5 point Straight Forecast Azertyuiop to beat Well Chief. PIPE’S YOUR MAN AGAIN! Pipe’s Manx Royal has been all the rage for the William Hill Handicap Hurdle, a race the trainer has farmed in the past, and he is now our 9/2 favourite from an early 10/1. After being thrown in at the deep end in a Grade 1 novice hurdle on his debut when pulled up, he has since began to justify the high regard in which he is held, with two easy wins in lower grade at Uttoxeter and Newton Abbot. He looks to have been laid out for this by his astute trainer. King Eider, the possible ride of Tony McCoy, could be the one to chase the favourite home. Recommendation: 4 points on Manx Royal @ 9/2, 2 points each-way King Eider @ 9/1. Racing today comes from Wincanton, Leicester and Market Rasen. Paul Nicholls and Ruby Walsh continue in unstoppable form and look the combination to follow at Wincanton this afternoon. The pair team up four times and should be successful with Nanga Parbat in the 1310 and Inca Trail in the following race at 1340. Best bet of the day is Dempsey in the 1510. Trained by Mark Pitman, Dempsey was a decent novice hurdler who has always promised to be a better chaser. The horse has the size and scope to make the grade over the larger obstacles even though he made it no further than the third on his chasing debut.
