Punters Have Had A Lucky Spell Says Will Hill Headline news from Sky News - Witness the event. WILLIAM HILL POSITIVE Shares in betting shop chain William Hill fell after the company warned that it had had to hand over more winnings to punters. The company said customers had enjoyed a lucky streak on horse races in July an August with more favourites winning. The news accompanied a near 40% incease in half-year profits, boosted by bumper winnings on the Euro 2004 finals in June. The group runs around 1,600 UK betting shops and offers telephone and online gambling. The shares were down 4%at 520-1/2 pence by 07.56am, making it the FTSE-100's biggest faller.
